Jeff Kaufman produced, directed, and wrote the feature documentary The Savoy King: Chick Webb and the Music That Changed America.  It features the voices of Bill Cosby, Janet Jackson, John Legend, Andy Garcia, Jeff Goldblum, Danny Glover, Tyne Daly, Ron Perlman, Keith David, Billy Crystal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Rocky Carroll, Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson, and Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts.   Music and film critic Gary Giddins wrote, "The Savoy King is one of the great musical documentaries of our time."  He has also produced / directed ten documentaries for Amnesty International, including a short film with New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof, and a documentary on the persecution of the Baha'is of Iran, Education Under Fire. 

He has produced, written, and/or directed programs for The Discovery Channel (including a special on the World Trade Center recovery effort), MTV, The History Channel, and The Learning Channel, plus a documentary on the history of the series COPS, and the feature documentary Brush With Life: The Art of Being Edward Biberman.  In addition, Kaufman donated his services to make a film behalf of Sarah Shourd, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal, the three young Americans who were unjustly imprisoned in Iran.  Other human rights projects he produced feature Rainn Wilson, Tyne Daly, and Edward James Olmos. 

Earlier, he hosted-produced daily political/cultural talk radio programs in Los Angeles and Vermont; contributed cartoons to The New Yorker and illustrations to The Los Angeles Times and The New York Times; wrote and illustrated several children’s books; and exhibited paintings in a number of galleries.  He is now filming a feature documentary on the life and work of Haitian priest Father Joseph Philippe, an economic visionary who has lifted the lives of thousands of people.
